Watch Dogs Legion
Watch Dogs is another one of those games that becomes demanding when you enable Ray Tracing. Therefore we will start at just 1440p here at “Ultra” settings, which on these video cards provides great performance. In fact, for the first time, we see the Radeon RX 6900 XT on top at 96FPS, which is 7% faster than the slowest video card on this graph. Overclocking does help the GIGABYTE RTX 3080 Ti EAGLE 12G improves performance by 4% bringing it over the RTX 3090.
Now we have enabled “Ultra” Ray Tracing at 1440p. The Radeon RX 6900 XT tanks at Ray Tracing in this game. However, the GIGABYTE RTX 3080 Ti EAGLE 12G and GIGABYTE RTX 3090 GAMING OC match performance. Overclocking improves performance only slightly, but the real gem is enabling DLSS. This brings performance up to the ’70s in performance.
4K at “Ultra” settings is demanding, but these video cards can pull it off. Naturally, the one that has the smoothest gameplay is the Overclocked GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3080 Ti EAGLE 12G video card. Overclocking has improved performance by 5%.
Horizon Zero Dawn
Horizon Zero Dawn plays very well at 4K with the highest settings, the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT falls behind, however. The GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3080 Ti EAGLE 12G is 11% faster than the Radeon RX 6900 XT in this game. Overclocking it further improves performance by 6% and puts it over the GIGABYTE RTX 3090 GAMING OC.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
The AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT falls behind at 4K in this game. The GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3080 Ti EAGLE 12G offers a better experience and matches the RTX 3090. Overclocking improves performance by 5%. This makes it the fastest video card for the game.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a demanding game, but at 4K these video cards make it playable. The AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT lags behind, but not by much. The GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3080 Ti EAGLE 12G is very close to the performance of the RX 6900 XT here. That is until we overclock it, then performance improves by 6%. This puts it just over the factory overclocked RTX 3090. The game is very smooth and playable on the RTX 3090 and overclocked RTX 3080 Ti.
Wolfenstein Youngblood
At 4K with the highest “Mein Leben” game settings you can’t say that these framerates are bad at all. Even the slowest card here, the Radeon RX 6900 XT, is pulling 148FPS average, which is super smooth and works well for 120+Hz displays. The GIGABYTE RTX 3080 Ti EAGLE 12G does have an advantage though, 16% faster. Overclocking it doesn’t do a lot, but does put it over the RTX 3090 until we turn on Ray Tracing.
When we turn on Ray Tracing we can now see how much more overclocking helps. With Ray Tracing alone the GIGABYTE RTX 3080 Ti EAGLE 12G improves performance by 6%. Turning on DLSS helps performance a lot with Ray Tracing, and the overclocked GIGABYTE RTX 3080 Ti EAGLE 12G gets a 6% performance boost and is faster than the RTX 3090.
