1440p Gameplay Performance

We are going to start by looking at the 1440p gameplay performance. The Radeon RX 6900 XT is geared for 4K gaming, but we think it is also important to see how it compares at 1440p and what kind of a gaming experience it can provide. We will look at 4K on the next page, and Ray Tracing after that. We do have DLSS and FSR applied where appropriate.

In Metro Exodus Enhanced at 1440p and the highest in-game settings overclocking the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT improved performance by 6%. This brought it up to 45FPS, but it just wasn’t enough to make the game playable. You would have to lower the Shading Quality to High or Medium in order for this game to be playable even on the overclocked Radeon RX 6900 XT. The RTX 3090 without DLSS is 35% faster, and with DLSS it is 82% faster. It is playable with or without DLSS. Overclocked, the RX 6900 XT is 12% faster than the RX 6800 XT.

In Cyberpunk 2077 the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT overclocked improves performance by 7%. This is enough to make it now faster than the GIGABYTE RTX 3090 by 4%. It is performing really great here at 1440p and providing a great gameplay experience at “Ultra” quality. Compared to the RX 6800 XT the overclocked RX 6900 XT is 13% faster.

In Godfall overclocking the Radeon RX 6900 XT improved performance by just 5%. The framerates were already well above 100FPS. Performance is now right on the heels of the GIGABYTE RTX 3090 with the overclock, but the RTX 3090 is 3% faster. The overclocked Radeon RX 6900 XT is 11% faster than the Radeon RX 6800 XT.

In Dirt 5 overclocking the Radeon RX 6900 XT has improved performance by 5%. It is now slightly faster than the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3090, both are neck and neck. The overclocked RX 6900 XT is 10% faster than the RX 6800 XT.

Overclocking the Radeon RX 6900 XT in Watch Dogs Legion has improved performance by 6%. This helps it maintain its lead over the RTX 3090 now by 7%. The overclocked RX 6900 XT is 13% faster than the RX 6800 XT.

Overclocking the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT in MS Flight Sim has improved performance by 8%, the highest so far. This helps it to creep much closer to the RTX 3090 in this game. The RTX 3090 still maintains a lead, which is 8%. The overclocked RX 6900 XT is 16% faster than the RX 6800 XT, which is a pretty big difference.

Overclocking the Radeon RX 6900 XT in Horizon Zero Dawn has improved performance by only 3%, so much not difference. This does put it just ahead of the RTX 3090, or neck and neck really. Who can complain about 150FPS at 1440p? The overclocked RX 6900 XT is 12% faster than the RX 6800 XT.

In Red Dead Redemption 2 overclocking the Radeon RX 6900 XT has improved performance by 6%. This puts it over the performance of the GIGABYTE RTX 3090 without DLSS by 4%. So in native resolution, the overclocked RX 6900 XT is faster. When you turn on DLSS, the RTX 3090 then becomes faster, but it isn’t the native resolution. Either way, it’s playable on both video cards. The overclocked RX 6900 XT is 13% faster than the RX 6800 XT.

The overclocked Radeon RX 6900 XT in Wolfenstein Youngblood improves performance by 6%. It isn’t enough to beat the RTX 3090 here though, which is 9% faster. The overclocked RX 6900 XT is 14% faster than the RX 6800 XT.
