4K Gameplay Performance
Now we are going to look at 4K performance on this page. We will look at Ray Tracing on the next page. We do have DLSS and FSR applied where appropriate.
Metro Exodus Enhanced is very demanding at 4K, and so overclocking does not really do much here for the Radeon RX 6900 XT. Performance is improved by 6%, but that doesn’t translate to much when you are in the 20’s FPS-wise. The RTX 3090 is also not playable without DLSS, which is 44% faster than the overclocked RX 6900 XT. When you apply DLSS it does become playable and is 122% faster than the overclocked RX 6900 XT. The overclocked RX 6900 XT is 12% faster than the RX 6800 XT.
In Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K and “Ultra” settings overclocking the Radeon RX 6900 XT improves performance by 6%. This, however, is not enough to make 4K “Ultra” playable at all. You will have to still lower the game to High or Medium settings at 4K to be playable, even with the video card overclocked. The GIGABYTE RTX 3090 is also not playable and is only barely faster than the overclocked RX 6900 XT. When you turn on DLSS however, the performance of it becomes more than playable, and you can play at this setting at your monitor’s 4K resolution. The overclocked RX 6900 XT is 13% faster than the RX 6800 XT.
Overclocking the Radeon RX 6900 XT improves performance in Godfall at 4K by 8%, which is on the higher side so far. This puts its performance right on par with the RTX 3090 at 4K in this game. The game is very playable at 4K with the card overclocked or not. The overclocked RX 6900 XT is 11% faster than the RX 6800 XT.
Overclocking the Radeon RX 6900 XT has improved performance by only 3% in this game at 4K. It puts performance on par with the RTX 3090, and it is playable, overclocked or not. The RX 6900 XT overclocked is 12% faster than the RX 6800 XT.
In Watch Dogs Legion overclocking the Radeon RX 6900 XT improves performance by 5%. With the card overclocked it is over 60FPS at 4K in this game, which is really nice. It puts it on par in performance with the RTX 3090. The overclocked RX 6900 XT is 11% faster than the RX 6800 XT.
Overclocking the Radeon RX 6900 XT in MS Flight Sim at 4K has improved performance by 7%. The RTX 3090 still dominates this game in performance and is 20% faster. However, the game is still playable on the RX 6900 XT overclocked or not, and more so with it overclocked. The overclocked RX 6900 XT is 15% faster than the RX 6800 XT.
Overclocking the Radeon RX 6900 XT in Horizon Zero Dawn has improved performance by 6%. This brings it closer to RTX 3090 performance, but the RTX 3090 is still 7% faster. The game is completely playable though on the overclocked RX 6900 XT. The overclocked RX 6900 XT is 12% faster than the RX 6800 XT.
Overclocking the Radeon RX 6900 XT in Red Dead Redemption 2 at 4K has improved performance by 6%. This puts performance over 60FPS at 4K and right on par with the RTX 3090. Turning on DLSS does extend the RTX 3090’s performance. The overclocked RX 6900 XT is 15% faster than the RX 6800 XT.
Overclocking the Radeon RX 6900 XT has improved performance by 7% in Wolfenstein Youngblood at 4K. The RTX 3090 is still faster by 12%. The overclocked RX 6900 XT is 16% faster than the RX 6800 XT.
