Gaming Performance – Ryzen 5 7600

We are going to focus on the 4K, 1440p, and 1080p gameplay performance. The common GPU used for every CPU is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition video card. Each graph has all three resolutions on each CPU included, but the order and sorting do not change in each graph. You can look at the framerate between CPUs at each resolution. Games are in order from most recent, to least recent.

Returnal

Returnal was launched on the PC in February of 2023 and is based on Unreal Engine 4. The game supports real-time ray tracing effects, particle systems, and volumetric rendering. We utilize the graphics preset to set EPIC graphics settings with unlocked framerate, and everything is enabled except ray tracing, we have screen-space reflections on. We use the built-in benchmark.

AMD Ryzen 5 7600 CPU Returnal

In Returnal, we find that at 4K and 1440p, the CPUs are pretty much identical in performance. However, at 1080p the Ryzen 5 7600 is 2% behind the Ryzen 5 7600X.

Forspoken

Forspoken was released on January 24th, 2023, on the PC and uses the Luminous Engine. The game supports all upscaling methods, including NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, Intel XeSS, and Ray Tracing. We are going to customize the settings and enable the highest graphics settings, including Ultra High Texture Memory. We use the built-in benchmark.

AMD Ryzen 5 7600 CPU Forspoken

In Forspoken, we find that the performance between the Ryzen 5 7600X and Ryzen 5 7600 do not change to any meaningful degree at 4K or 1440p. At 1080p though, we do see a 3FPS difference. The Ryzen 5 7600 ends up being 1.4% slower at 1080p, which is small, but technically it does exist.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II was released on October 27, 2022, on the PC and uses the IW 9.0 gaming engine. The game supports all upscaling methods, including NVIDIA DLSS, NVIDIA Image Scaling, AMD FSR 1.0, AMD Fidelity FX CAS, and Intel XeSS. We use the highest quality option of each. We customize every graphics setting to the maximum value for the best image quality and enable everything. We use the built-in benchmark.

AMD Ryzen 5 7600 CPU Call of Duty Modern Warfare II

In Call of Duty Modern Warfare II, the Ryzen 5 7600 is only 2FPS behind the Ryzen 5 7600X at 4K, but at 1440p it is 3FPS behind. Odd behavior occurred at 1080p, where the Ryzen 5 7600 was actually 11-12 FPS faster than the Ryzen 5 7600X, we double-checked the results, and they were true. Overall, it is still a small difference at such a high framerate.

F1 2022

F1 2022 was released on June 28th, 2022 on the PC and uses Codemasters Ego engine.  The game supports Ray Tracing, DLSS, AMD FidelityFX, and FSR.  We are going to run the game with the highest quality settings of “Ultra High” and TAA+FidelityFX.  We will enable DLSS and FSR as needed at the Quality setting for both.  We will utilize the built-in benchmark in the Imola track, in dry conditions with a far-chasing cam.

AMD Ryzen 5 7600 CPU F1 2022

In F1 2022 the Ryzen 5 7600 and Ryzen 5 7600X performed very close at 4K and 1440p, with only a 2FPS difference at 1440p. Even at 1080p, they were only 2FPS apart.

SUMMARY

We pit the AMD Ryzen 5 7600 versus the Ryzen 5 7600X and compared performance head-to-head in synthetic, system and gaming benchmarks. We also enabled PBO overclocking to see how much performance it can claw back. The Ryzen 5 7600 performed very closely to the Ryzen 5 7600X, with a minimum performance loss, but a large efficiency improvement. It can perform near the 7600X, while still using less power, and running cooler. It offers a great value, with no gaming performance loss, and even comes with a CPU cooler making it a complete package.
