Game Load Time Performance
Forspoken (DirectStorage)
We are using the full retail game Forspoken, which supports DirectStorage to test game loading time. Forspoken was released on January 24th, 2023, on the PC and uses the Luminous Engine. We are using an EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 XC BLACK GAMING 12GB video card. We enable the highest graphics settings, including Ultra High Texture Memory, and run at 1080p. We use the built-in benchmark and report the scene load times. We add the sum of all seven scene load times and run the benchmark three times. We then take the average of the three sums from each run. We graph the average result.
In Forspoken, the CORSAIR MP700 PRO 2TB PCIe Gen5 SSD supports DirectStorage, and the XBOX Game Bar indicates that DirectStore is working and enabled on the SSD. In our benchmark runs, the total loading time across 3 runs was 8.9 seconds, which matches exactly with that of the ADATA LEGEND 970. This is a very fast load time, and as you can see in the detailed table below there are some very low load time numbers for each scene. As we add more Gen5 drives to this graph, we will be able to make more comparisons, just generally speaking, these load times are faster than anything we’ve experienced on Gen4 SSDs.

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker Benchmark
We use the Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker Benchmark which benchmarks the load times of several game scenes. The benchmark calculates the sum load time of the scenes and reports the number. We run the benchmark three times, and take the average of the load times. This provides consistent, objective game load testing data we can use for comparison in a game scenario outside of DirectStorage.
The CORSAIR MP700 PRO 2TB PCIe Gen5 SSD does extremely well in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker Benchmark load times as well, beating the ADATA LEGEND 970 by 2% or 0.15 seconds. This is very close, but as you can see the CORSAIR MP700 PRO 2TB PCIe Gen5 is massively faster than the Gen4 SSDs, so PCIe Gen5 SSDs are making a difference in this benchmark. Compared to the MP600 the CORSAIR MP700 PRO 2TB PCIe Gen5 SSD is 37% faster in load times! Compared to the fastest Gen4 SSD it is 35% faster!
