Test Setup

For our testing today, we will be using an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X. This is a non-X3D part, so that the X3D component won’t interfere with memory testing, as the need for faster RAM may be diminished on X3D CPUs for gaming. In this way, we can see how most Ryzen CPUs will be affected by DRAM speed. We are using an MSI MEG X870E ACE MAX motherboard with the latest BIOS installed. We have Windows 11 updated to the latest version and are using the latest possible AMD chipset drivers. We are using an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition for testing gaming performance with the latest drivers.

The memory is well configured, is cooled very well, and handles high-demand applications and computers with stability and efficiency. For gaming, you may want to look toward G.SKILL's Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 lower-latency memory.

.........and the memory cost more than the rest of the setup, less the gpu,.....well there's the nvme, too.
I don't see how anyone starting up a build can afford it.

Yea that's the rub... like I have a 64 gig setup before all this went sideways... I built everything in my sig but the GPU (did that this year.) Feel like my system today would be closer to 10k than the 6 I used to build it out. (Thanks to the video card... well 5 because I sold the old video card.)
