Gaming Benchmarks
In all of our graphs to follow, the bars are arranged from the fastest MT/s speed down, so 8200MT/s is on top, with 4800MT/s on the bottom, and this arrangement is locked in independent of the performance shown; they are not arranged by result, but rather by the DDR5 memory speed. All games are tested at 1080p and utilize game settings that allow CPU dependency, not GPU. In all games, we are using in-game real-world manual run-throughs for performance testing and the latest patches.
Battlefield 6

In Battlefield 6, with the RAM at the default 4800MT/s, there is a clear downgrade in performance at 191FPS. Any EXPO RAM above that improves framerates. The 6000MT/s CL28 kit improves performance by 6%. Now, moving up to the DDR5 8000MT/s CL38 kit does not really make a difference, at only 0.2% faster than 6000MT/s CL28. The RAM at 8200MT/s does increase the performance, but again we are talking minuscule numbers in this game. For this game, 6000MT/s CL28 is perfectly fine for the best performance; anything above 4800MT/s is welcome.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, we once again see that with the DDR5 RAM at 4800MT/s, performance suffers at 125FPS. Now, this one is interesting, because what we are seeing here is that the lower-latency 6000MT/s DDR5 RAM at CL28 and higher memory controller frequency actually provides the highest and best performance. That RAM kit is 8% faster than the RAM at 4800MT/s default. What we see is that the DDR5 8000MT/s CL38 kit in EXPO is faster than the default performance by 4%, but that means it is 4% behind the 6000MT/s CL28 kit on this platform. Overclocking the RAM to 8200MT/s crawls back a little of that performance, but not enough.
Crimson Desert

For Crimson Desert, we are using patch 1.16.00. Now Crimson Desert responds well to DDR5 RAM frequencies; as we can see, it is very sensitive to memory performance. At 4800MT/s, performance is at 145FPS. The RAM kit that takes the cake in this game is the 6000MT/s CL28 kit with the memory controller at the same ratio; it blows away performance at 13% faster than 4800MT/s, making a big difference. DDR5 8000MT/s isn’t far behind, but it is technically behind here in this game. DDR5 8000MT/s is 8% faster than 4800MT/s, but it is 4% behind the 6000MT/s CL28 kit on this platform. Overclocking the RAM to 8200MT/s does help, but just not enough to reach the 6000MT/s performance.
Cyberpunk 2077

In Cyberpunk 2077, we see some interesting results as well. With the RAM at 4800MT/s, it is the slowest at 142FPS. The 6000MT/s CL28 DDR5 RAM is faster by 9%. What’s also interesting is that with the DDR5 8000 overclocked to 8200, it is also 9% faster than the base, so it catches up to the 6000MT/s RAM kit. However, in its EXPO 8000 mode, it is actually slower by 3%.
Doom The Dark Ages

Now in Doom The Dark Ages, this game is very much different than all the other games above. In this game, memory frequency is paramount and does make a big difference. With the memory at 4800MT/s, performance is 139FPS. By using the 6000MT/s kit that improves by 11%. However, this time, the DDR5 8000 kit has the advantage, being 2% faster than the 6000 kit. Even more, going up to 8200 improves it by another 2%. So when all is said and done, 8200 vs 4800 is a nice 15% performance improvement.
