Power & Temperature
On this page, we are going to explore power and temperature. We will do full-load testing in Cinebench 2026 for Multi-Core power and temperature. All of our data has been captured with HWiNFO64.
CPU Power

There is a distinct power difference between the Zen 5 X3D and Zen 4 X3D CPUs. Though the TDP and PPT are the same for all four CPUs, the Zen 5 X3D CPUs run closer to their PPT Wattage. This makes the Zen 5 X3D CPUs consume a lot more power. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D consumes 71% more power than the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. The Ryzen 7 9850X3D uses slightly less Wattage than the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Now, keep this in mind: this is an “all-core” Cinebench 2026 workload, NOT what is typical while gaming, which would be much closer for all four CPUs.
Temperature

In terms of temperature, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 7 9850X3D naturally run hotter, since they are consuming more wattage and running at higher clock speeds. However, they did stay below 90c. The difference is about 10 degrees from the slowest CPU to the fastest.
