Blender Benchmark
Now we are getting into the compute workloads. We are using the Blender Benchmark version 1.0 Beta 2 and have selected the GPU only has the compute device. We are running the “Complete Benchmark.”
In this graph we are looking at the render time in minutes and seconds, lower is better. The difference in performance between these drivers are in the seconds, as each one completed it in 32 minutes. They are literally only seconds apart. Technically the Radeon Pro driver resulted in the best render time at 32 minutes and 18 seconds. The Adrenalin driver falls 11 seconds behind it, and the press driver is just barely behind the latest Adrenalin driver.
For a 32-minute render time this doesn’t really mean anything. However, if your render times were in the hours then having the Radeon Pro drivers installed might reduce the render time by several minutes.
Cinebench R15
We are using good ole Cinebench R15 for this test so we can isolate and test the OpenGL performance using the OpenGL test button. This shows OpenGL FPS.
Well, there seems to be a slight pattern developing here. It turns out the Radeon Pro driver is faster, by a frame. Ok, it’s not a lot, or really meaningful in the real-world, but it is an interesting pattern if this trend continues. Performance between the press driver and latest Adrenalin release is the same.
