LuxMark

LuxMark is a popular OpenCL benchmark based on the LuxCoreRenderer.  We are testing the three scenes, Hotel, Microphone and LuxBall HDR.  The results are a result score given and the higher the better.

The first scene rendered is the Hotel scene.  Though small, there is a distinct performance uplift with the Radeon Pro drivers, again it’s not huge, but it is notable.  There’s also a very small uplift with Adrenalin versus the press driver.

In the Microphone rendered image we actually find a larger difference that is more noticeable.  First, there is an uplift with the Adrenalin latest release driver over the press driver, about 2%.  However, there is also a difference using the Radeon Pro drivers versus the latest release Adrenalin driver here, about 2% uplift in performance.

There is a smaller difference with the LuxBall scene.  It seems the largest difference was experienced in the above Mircophone scene.

RatGPU

Despite having a funny name, RatGPU is a useful benchmark as it tests the coveted raytracing performance by rendering images.  We are using version 0.9.5 and testing with the “High” profile.  The results are given in seconds, therefore lower is better.

In this graph you can see there are some notable differences.  The press driver takes the longest at 850 seconds, and the Adrenalin driver reduces the time by about 2 seconds.  However, the Radeon Pro driver adds another second saved onto that.  If you compare the Radeon Pro performance to the press driver then that’s a 3 second improvement.  These second differences sound small, but if you had hours of rendering time they’d add up to minutes saved.
