Overclocking

Here is how to overclock the ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080 Ti O11G GAMING video card and our final overclock.  Remember, we are starting from about 1770-1790MHz at default.

Highest Stable Overclock

We were able to increase the Power Target +25 from 100 to 125.  The GPU Voltage was able to be increased by +100.  We also enabled Enhanced Clock Speed adjustments to give us more room on the sliders in GPU Tweak II to overclock with.  All the fan speeds were increased to 100% to ensure the highest overclock possible.

You can see that we managed to push the GPU Boost Clock up +170 to 1820MHz GPU Boost.  We also managed to push the memory up +2200 to 16.2GHz from the default of 14GHz.  This boosted the memory bandwidth up to 712GB/sec versus 616GB/sec.

GPU Frequency

Overclocked GPU Frequency

The orange line represents the overclock while the blue line is the default performance.  You can see that our overclock took us from 1770-1790MHz up to now around 2040MHz where the frequencies settled.  The frequency actually started really high, it started at 2145MHz at the top-end, but this was in no way sustained, it quickly dropped over the course of 1 minute of gaming down to the settled 2040MHz that was sustained.

We tried and tried to get it stable at 2100MHz, but it just wasn’t having it.  But at 2040MHz that is very high compared to the default performance and extremely high compared to a standard card or even the Founders Edition.

Therefore our final stable overclock ended up being 2040MHz GPU and 16.2GHz memory.  This was a good solid high overclock for this GPU on air.

Previously we have overclocked a reference NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition video card. You can compare this overclock with that overclock. You’ll find we were able to raise the GPU and memory frequency higher on the ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 2080 Ti O11G GAMING compared to the Founders Edition.

GPUz

Above are the GPUz screenshots.  The GPU temperature is 57c at 100% fan speed.  This shows the temperature is not holding back the overclock.  Power Consumption is up to 330.7W.  This Wattage and heat are because the Voltage increase is working and boosted the GPU Voltage up to 1.0680V versus 1.0500V by default.  We are also at the maximum TDP.

Final Overclock
GPU: 2040MHz
Memory: 16.2GHz
