Power and Temp
System power is measured at the wall in Watts and represents the total system load. Our power supply is a Seasonic Prime 1000W Titanium. Temperature is measured via GPUz and room temperature of the testing rig was at 70F while testing.
Naturally, the lowest Wattage for the performance is better. The ASUS DUAL RTX 2070 O8G MINI has a maximum total system Wattage of 318W, which makes sense for a small form factor build. You would want the power to be very efficient. Even though the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT was slightly faster, it eats up a lot more power at 357W. Even if this video card were in a small form factor, it would not be very power efficient for such a small build and would require massive cooling in a smaller package.
Compared to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 FE the ASUS DUAL RTX 2070 O8G MINI is also more power-efficient. The RTX 2070 FE will consume higher power, even though performance between the two video cards are very close in gaming. Considering that the ASUS DUAL RTX 2070 O8G MINI was so close in performance throughout all of the testing, the higher power usage on the RTX 2070 FE is not so good. The ASUS DUAL RTX 2070 O8G MINI is a very efficient video card.
When overclocked at our final stable highest overclock with GPU and memory, but no GPU Voltage Wattage increases to 334W, a 5% difference. This is also very good because we received between 7-10% performance uplift via overclocking, but only with a 5% bump in power. That’s very efficient and a big plus. The power is also still lower than the Radeon RX 5700 XT by a great margin, yet performed similarly.
Temp
In terms of temperature, this is another plus of the ASUS DUAL RTX 2070 O8G MINI video card. At default, the GPU hit 67c maximum. This is actually lower than the bigger (bigger heatsink and such) RTX 2070 FE which hit 71c. This means the ASUS custom cooling on the ASUS DUAL RTX 2070 O8G MINI is superior to the Founders Edition reference cooling. When we overclocked the video card and set 75% fans the temperature also remained at a very cool temperature. The temperature is also very good compared to the hot running Radeon RX 5700 XT.
What our testing shows and proves is that the small form factor, the small size, but robust cooling is not holding back the ASUS DUAL RTX 2070 O8G MINI. It doesn’t hold the card back at default, and it doesn’t hold the card back when overclocking. The cooling and build is enough for this small form factor video card.
