Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Graph

We are using the built-in benchmark for this game.  In Shadow of the Tomb Raider we are starting at 1440p with the maximum in-game settings.  However, we have AA set at SMAA 2TX instead of the highest SMAA 4X, which is very demanding.  At SMAA 2TX this game is very playable on all video cards at 1440p here.  The ASUS DUAL RTX 2070 O8G MINI is playable and provides almost 70FPS average.  Overclocking it improves performance by 9%.  This puts it over Radeon RX 5700 XT performance by 3%.

We also lowered the game to 1080p but now have enabled SMAA 4X so the AA setting is the highest.  The ASUS DUAL RTX 2070 O8G MINI does very well providing 74FPS average.  It is actually faster at default than the Radeon RX 5700 XT now.  The Radeon RX 5700 XT seems to have difficulty with SMAA 4X setting, it loses a lot of performance where the RTX 2070 does not.  Overclocking the ASUS DUAL RTX 2070 MINI improves performance 5%.

This game also supports NVIDIA Ray Tracing on shadows.  With the ASUS DUAL RTX 2070 O8G MINI we can enable “Ultra” Ray Tracing at 1080p with SMAA 2TX.  Performance is a nice and smooth 60FPS making Ray Tracing very viable.  Overclocking the video card improves performance by 7%.
