1440p MSI RTX 3080 SUPRIM X Performance

First, we will start with 1440p Rasterization performance. Ray Tracing and DLSS are on a separate page. The MSI GeForce RTX 3080 SUPRIM X is shown in three ways. It is shown with the SILENT DEFAULT BIOS mode, the GAMING BIOS mode, and the OVERCLOCKED performance. The abbreviation DFLT. stands for DEFAULT. The Radeon RX 6800 XT and GeForce RTX 3080 FE are at default settings. All games are using built-in benchmarks where possible, where not, a manual-run through is used.

Cyberpunk 2077

In Cyberpunk 2077 we are running patch version 1.06. We have the game set at the “Ultra” Quick Preset option at 1440p. you can see that the GAMING BIOS does have a slight advantage in performance over the default BIOS, by about a percent. Both of these BIOS’ performance is faster than the GeForce RTX 3080 FE. The MSI card is about 5% faster. When we overclock the MSI video card it gains 6% in performance and puts this game at 80FPS. The Radeon RX 6800 XT lags pretty far behind. The overclocked MSI RTX 3080 SUPRIM X is a whole 20% faster than the Radeon RX 6800 XT.

Watch Dogs Legion

In Watch Dogs Legion there is hardly any difference between the two BIOS modes, they are just 1FPS apart. This however is enough to bring a couple FPS difference between it and the GeForce RTX 3080 FE. When we overclock the video card performance increases just 5% from the default. The AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT makes a bit of a comeback in this game, providing performance faster than the MSI GeForce RTX 3080 SUPRIM X, until we overclock it.

Horizon Zero Dawn

In Horizon Zero Dawn there’s a slight 2% difference in performance between the two BIOS modes. The SUPRIM X is about 2% faster than the RTX 3080 FE. Once we overclock the MSI video card though it gains 6% in performance from default. The AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT is as fast as the MSI RTX 3080 SUPRIM X in this game at 1440p.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020

Even with our new Ryzen 7 5800X this game is still CPU bottlenecked at anything lower than 4K. We do see some very slight differences, but nothing big. The largest difference is how all the GeForce RTX 3080 cards are faster than the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT here. The Radeon RX 6800 XT seems to be lagging about 4% behind in performance at 1440p.

Red Dead Redemption 2

In Red Dead Redemption 2 there is also just a slight difference between the two BIOS modes, not enough to notice in-game. This performance though is almost 4% faster than the GeForce RTX 3080 FE though. When we overclock the MSI video card performance increases by 7%. The AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT is in the last place again. The overclocked MSI card is 14% faster.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint

MSI GeForce RTX 3080 SUPRIM X video card review 1440p Ghost Recon Breakpoint

In Ghost Recon Breakpoint there is once again only a 1FPS difference between the two BIOS modes. This is a few FPS faster than the GeForce RTX 3080 FE. When we overclock the MSI video card performance increases by 6%. The AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT has a comeback in this game as well, and is on par with the MSI RTX 3080 SUPRIM X in GAMING MODE.

Wolfenstein Youngblood

MSI GeForce RTX 3080 SUPRIM X video card review 1440p Wolfenstein Youngblood

In Wolfenstein Youngblood the two BIOS modes are equal in performance. However, they are much faster than the RTX 3080 FE by 4%. When we overclock the MSI video card performance increases by 8%. Can you believe it, over 300FPS with the overclocked MSI RTX 3080 SUPRIM X in this game at 1440p. The AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT, while certainly playable, lags behind in FPS.
