FSR and DLSS Performance
On this page, we are going to look at AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) and NVIDIA DLSS performance. This way you can take all factors into consideration.
Godfall (FSR)
In Godfall it supports AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution or FSR which can be enabled on both AMD and NVIDIA video cards. In the graph above we have turned it on and are using the “Ultra Quality” mode. In addition, we are at 1080p resolution with Ray Tracing turned on. With FSR enabled the XFX MERC 308 RX 6600 XT Black performs very well at 102FPS with Ray Tracing at 1080p. This is really great performance and outperforms the GeForce RTX 3060 with FSR also enabled by 8%. Unfortunately, overclocking doesn’t help performance much here. The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti with FSR enabled performs much faster, it’s 23% faster than the XFX RX 6600 XT.
In this second Godfall graph, we have taken Ray Tracing out of the equation. We are running the game at 1440p and using “Ultra Quality” FSR but no Ray Tracing this time. Every video card is running FSR here. With FSR even the XFX RX 5600 XT at the low-end becomes playable at near 60FPS. FSR really did bring good gains. The XFX MERC 308 RX 6600 XT Black is 9% faster than the Radeon RX 5700 XT and 21% faster than the GeForce RTX 3060. Overclocking did help performance here, and it brought it to near the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. The XFX RX 6600 XT is 48% faster than the XFX RX 5600 XT.
Now we have pushed things even further in Godfall by enabling Ray Tracing at 1440p along with FSR. The XFX MERC 308 RX 6600 XT Black is still playable at 64FPS as long as FSR is enabled at this resolution. The GeForce RTX 3060, however, is beating it by 10%. The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is also much faster than even the RX 6600 XT overclocked.
Metro Exodus Enhanced (DLSS)
We are now going to show some performance with DLSS included so you can see how fast the GeForce RTX 3060 and GeForce RTX 3060 Ti can get when DLSS is used in comparison. In Metro Exodus Enhanced at 1080p turning on Quality DLSS makes the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti playable at 60FPS, and while the RTX 3060 isn’t exactly playable, it’s 35% faster than the XFX RX 6600 XT.
Cyberpunk 2077 (DLSS)
DLSS also does wonders in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p when “Medium” Ray Tracing is enabled. As we saw, it kills performance on the Radeon RX 6600 XT. However, both the GeForce RTX 3060 and RTX 3060 can play this game very smoothly with Quality DLSS enabled at 1080p and Quality DLSS.
Even at “Ultra” Ray Tracing at 1080p the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is very playable with Quality DLSS enabled, and the RTX 3060 isn’t far off.
Red Dead Redemption 2 (DLSS)
With the latest patch of Red Dead Redemption 2 it received DLSS support. We are running the game in the Vulkan API, yes Vulkan with DLSS, it works. The gains aren’t as big as other games, but it still brings the GeForce RTX 3060 up to performance parity with the Overclocked XFX MERC 308 RX 6600 XT Black. It makes the RTX 3060 playable.
At 1440p we see bigger gains with DLSS, it makes the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti very playable and the RTX 3060 is not far off. With DLSS the RTX 3060 is now faster than the Overclocked XFX MERC 308 RX 6600 XT Black at 1440p.
