Throughput Benchmarks – XPG ATOM 30

CrystalDiskMark

We are using CrystalDiskMark to benchmark sequential and random throughput of read and write performance. For these NVMe SSDs, we are using the NVMe profile in CrystalDiskMark. This tests SEQ1M Q8T1, SEQ128K Q32T1, RND4K Q32T16, and RND4K Q1T1.

In CrystalDiskMark SEQ1M Q8T1 test the ADATA XPG ATOM 30 is at the lower end of performance in both read and write performance, as we knew it would be by the rated speed when compared to other SSDs. However, it is hitting its rated speed perfectly, better than, even. The rated read speed is 2500MB/s and here it is hitting 2693MB/s, so it is hitting over the mark and performing better than expected. Its write performance is rated at 2000MB/s and here it is writing 2113MB/s, so again the write speed is performing better than expected. But, when compared to faster Gen3 x4 SSDs it can’t quite keep up comparatively. It’s still way faster than SATA or any mechanical drive of course.

The same holds true in the SEQ128K Q32T1 tests as well, the ADATA XPG ATOM 30 is actually performing very well against its rated and quoted speeds. It’s at 2703MB/s here, which is faster than the 2500MB/s quoted speed, and the write speed is also above the quoted speed. Held up against competing products though, it is on the low side.

The same is true in random performance, it actually has very good random performance for what it is rated at, but comparatively, it is near the Teamgroup MP34 SSD, and that one is just slightly faster.

Finally, in random 4K Q1T1, we see the write speed exceed the read as usual, but it is comparatively slower. However, the read speed is actually faster than everything except the Teamgroup MP34, interestingly. It actually holds up in random Q1T1 testing to the other SSDs and isn’t too far off.
