Power and Temperature

To test the power and temperature we perform a manual run-through in Cyberpunk 2077 at “Ultra” settings for real-world in-game data.  We use GPU-Z sensor data to record the results.  We report on the GPU-Z sensor data for “Board Power” and “GPU Chip Power” when available for our Wattage data.  For temperature data, we report the GPU (Edge Temp of the GPU or Package Temp) as well as Hot Spot (Junction Temperature) when available for our temperature data.

EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming Review Power Graph

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Founders Edition has a higher board power and a higher GPU Chip power than the EVGA video card interestingly. The Founders Edition consumes a higher board power and chip Wattage, while the EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming does appear to be more efficient overall. When we overclocked the EVGA video card the power rises about 9W on board power and 10W on GPU Chip power, which isn’t much. Even at the Overclocked power utilization, the EVGA card is still more efficient than the Founders Edition on board power, and just a little higher on GPU Chip power. The Radeon RX 6900 XT overall uses the least GPU Chip Power utilization.

EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming Review Temperature Graph

The temperature graph above is a testament to the great EVGA iCX3 thermal solution. The EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming runs 9 degrees cooler on the GPU Temp and 10 degrees cooler on the Hot Spot Temp compared to the Founders Edition. This is an impressive cooling improvement considering the EVGA card runs at a higher Boost Clock. When we overclocked the video card we set the fans to 100% and even overclocked GPU Temp was only at 61c and Hot Spot at 68c. The Radeon RX 6900 XT ran real hot.

GPU-Z Sensor Data

The first three screenshots of GPU-Z above are at Default, and the next three screenshots of GPU-Z are at Overclocked.
