Power and Temperature
To test the power and temperature we perform a manual run-through in Cyberpunk 2077 at “Ultra” settings for real-world in-game data. We use GPU-Z sensor data to record the results. We report on the GPU-Z sensor data for “Board Power” and “GPU Chip Power” when available for our Wattage data. For temperature data, we report the GPU (Edge Temp of the GPU or Package Temp) as well as Hot Spot (Junction Temperature) when available for our temperature data.
The NVIDIA reference TGP for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER is 220W. The ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Trinity Black Edition also has a 220W TGP. In our graph of power above, the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Trinity Black Edition is pulling 223.9W board power, which is 17% more power than the GeForce RTX 4070, which is a very linear improvement in power to performance. When we overclocked it power increased by 10%, again a very linear power to performance improvement.
Even overclocked the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Trinity Black Edition pulls less power than the Radeon RX 7800 XT, which is very power-hungry. The ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Trinity Black Edition is an efficient video card.
The ZOTAC IceStorm 2.0 enhanced cooling is working very well on the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Trinity Black Edition video card. Its GPU temperature is nearly the same temperature as the slower GeForce RTX 4070 Founders Edition, and in fact it has a lower Hot Spot temperature! When we overclocked it, we left the fans on automatic, and even overclocked, it only increased temperatures by a few degrees! At these temperatures, even overclocked, it is a lot cooler than the Radeon RX 7800 XT runs.
In the GPU-Z screenshots below, we have the default settings shown on the left, and the overclocked settings shown on the right. You can see that with the fans on automatic, they run at 35% by default, and with the video card overclocked and still left on automatic, they increased to just 38% and still kept the GPU within a few degrees of where it was by default. The TDP is increased with overclocking, as you can see, by 10% from the default. This is just really good news and shows how well the IceStorm 2.0 cooling works on the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Trinity Black Edition.
