Conclusion

In our review today, we reviewed the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Trinity Black Edition video card, based on the new GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER GPU that was announced at CES 2024. The ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Trinity Black Edition has an MSRP of $599, yet is a custom-designed video card with custom ZOTAC IceStorm 2.0 cooling and a robust build that overclocks very well.

ZOTAC offers two other GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER video cards as well in its Twin Edge and Twin Edge OC models, and the OC does have a factory overclock. The ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Trinity Black Edition we reviewed today has a reference clock speed but has some pretty good overclocking headroom.

Using the ZOTAC FireStorm utility was very easy, and allows the ability to monitor stats, set fan speeds, and manipulate Voltage and Power Limit. In our overclock testing we pushed the GPU up by 10% from its default frequency, which already boosts beyond the NVIDIA GPU Boost clock speed. What was great was that we were able to do this overclocking without needing to set custom fan speeds or increase fan speed.

With the fans on automatic, it all just worked simply, and we had a good GPU frequency and memory overclock. This allowed real advantages in gameplay performance and really pushed performance well above that of the GeForce RTX 4070 and Radeon RX 7800 XT. Temperatures on the video card were well maintained, it wasn’t any warmer than the GeForce RTX 4070, and in fact had a better Hot Spot temperature.

In addition, when overclocked even, it used a lot less power than the Radeon RX 7800 XT. The Radeon RX 7800 XT is a power hog compared to the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Trinity Black Edition for the performance delivered. The ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Trinity Black Edition is a very efficient video card.

Final Points

When it comes to gaming performance, the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Trinity Black Edition performs at the top of its game and provides a good advantage over the GeForce RTX 4070. It allows playable performance at 1440p with maximum game settings with no problem. In every game we played today, even Alan Wake 2, it was able to provide a smooth gameplay experience at 1440p without upscaling.

If you want even more, turning on DLSS is a real advantage to the gameplay experience. Ray Tracing performance was also very strong, and all but the most demanding games are also playable without upscaling. Once again, DLSS improves that experience and makes the toughest games very smooth and playable at 1440p with maximum Ray Tracing. This video card supports DLSS 3 Frame Generation to take things further, and DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction. These features cannot be beat, and provide a really robust feature set for gaming.

The performance of the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Trinity Black Edition beats the Radeon RX 7800 XT with or without Ray Tracing, but more so with Ray Tracing. When you overclock the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Trinity Black Edition its performance is boosted even further, and really pulls far ahead of the GeForce RTX 4070 and Radeon RX 7800 XT. The ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Trinity Black Edition has a lot of performance headroom from overclocking, and this video card can do it without any fuss. It’s a power-efficient video card with excellent temperatures, and a quiet operation while gaming.

This is a $599 MSRP video card that offers more than just your basic build, with its IceStorm 2.0 cooling and robust build, and FireStorm utility it offers more than your standard MSRP priced video card. If you are looking for a GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER GPU-based video card, check out the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Trinity Black Edition.
