CPU Utilization

We are now going to test actual CPU utilization of the CPU in our Village Run CPU-Oriented manual in-game run-through. For this one, we are showing the total CPU utilization throughout the run-through, and comparing the patches at 1080p on the RTX 5090 and RX 9070 XT. The CPU being used is an AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D.

Above you will find the GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition at 1080p in our Village Run, CPU-Oriented test area. What we see above is that Patch 2.0 is utilizing a higher CPU Utilization Percentage with the GeForce RTX 5090 than it was in the previous patch. Patch 2.0 tops out at 60-65% CPU utilization, while the previous patch only hit 60% once, but was mainly under 55%. We can take the average of this CPU utilization from our Excel sheet and calculate that for you. The average CPU utilization for the previous patch was: 45.8% and the average CPU utilization for Patch 2.0 was: 51.2%, a 12% increase in CPU utilization.

The results were quite different with the Radeon RX 9070 XT! Indeed, you can see not much change at all in CPU utilization between the two patches with the Radeon RX 9070 XT. The average CPU utilization for the previous patch was: 38.4%, and the average CPU utilization for Patch 2.0 was: 39.5%, a 3% increase in CPU utilization. One other little interesting tidbit: the Radeon RX 9070 XT is using less CPU utilization compared to the GeForce RTX 5090, about 23% less CPU utilization in fact with Patch 2.0; that’s pretty major.
