ASYNC Compute Performance
On this page, we are going to directly test the performance of ASYNC Compute turned “On” (default) versus “Off” on the GeForce RTX 5090 and Radeon RX 9070 XT. We are running at 4K, Native Resolution on the Epic Quality preset using our GPU-oriented in-game manual run-through with Patch 2.0 applied.

ASYNC Compute most definitely helps GeForce RTX 5090 performance in this game. Utilizing ASYNC Compute improves performance with Patch 2.0 applied by 9%. The 1% Lows improve by 11%. Therefore, with GeForce RTX 50 Series, turn on ASYNC Compute.

The Radeon RX 9070 XT also improves with ASYNC Compute turned on, but not as much as the GeForce RTX 5090. On the Radeon RX 9070 XT, the average framerate only improves by 3%. Interestingly, the 1% Lows decrease in performance by 3%. It’s very close though, and practically the same.
This result is interesting, to the point where it seems the GeForce RTX 5090 benefits more with ASYNC Compute than the Radeon RX 9070 XT does, at least at 4K. It may be different at lower resolutions.
