System Benchmarks

First, we will start with some system and rendering benchmarks: 3DMark, Cinebench 2026, and Geekbench 7. This will give us an idea of how the CPUs compare outside of gaming.

3DMark

3DMark CPU Profile Max Threads

Running the CPUs at maximum “Max Threads” workloads, this is where we can see the detriment that the lower clock speeds have on the new AMD Ryzen 7 7700X3D, and actually both X3D CPUs here. The AMD Ryzen 7 7700X3D is the slowest in an all-core workload, coming in at 8% slower than the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D. The Ryzen 7 7700X3D actually ends up being slower than the Ryzen 7 7700 by 12% and slower than the Ryzen 7 7700X by 17%, which is pretty significant. The Ryzen 7 7700X3D is slower than the Ryzen 7 9700X by 19%.

3DMark CPU Profile 1 Thread

The same applies to the 1-Thread testing as well; the Ryzen 7 7700X3D is the slowest and is 5% slower than the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. The Ryzen 7 7700X3D is 14% slower than the Ryzen 7 7700 and 17% slower than the Ryzen 7 7700X. The Ryzen 7 7700X3D is 28% slower than the Ryzen 7 9700X.

Cinebench 2026

Cinebench 2026 Multi-Core

In Cinebench 2026, the Ryzen 7 7700X3D again comes in last in the Multi-Core rendering test. The Ryzen 7 7700X3D is 6% slower than the Ryzen 7 7700 and Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which perform rather closely. The Ryzen 7 7700X3D is 10% slower than the Ryzen 7 7700X and 16% slower than the Ryzen 7 9700X.

Cinebench 2026 Single-Core

The same is true in the Single-Core testing of Cinebench 2026. The Ryzen 7 7700X3D is 6% slower than the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and 12% slower than the Ryzen 7 7700 and 14% slower than the Ryzen 7 7700X. The Ryzen 7 7700X3D is 27% slower than the Ryzen 7 9700X.

Geekbench 7

Geekbench 7 Multi-Core

In the Geekbench 7 Multi-Core test, the trend continues, with the Ryzen 7 7700X3D being 5% slower than the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Ryzen 7 7700, and 10% slower than the Ryzen 7 7700X. The Ryzen 7 7700X3D is 11% slower than the Ryzen 7 9700X.

Geekbench 7 Single-Core

In the Single-Core test, the Ryzen 7 7700X3D is 7% slower than the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and 12% slower than the Ryzen 7 7700 and 14% slower than the Ryzen 7 7700X. The Ryzen 7 7700X3D is 24% slower than the Ryzen 7 9700X.

REVIEW OVERVIEW

The FPS Review Score
9

SUMMARY

The AMD Ryzen 7 7700X3D is a great value CPU for gaming purposes. It provides a solid experience, with improved average framerate and 1% Low performance providing smooth frametime consistency in gaming. It improves upon the Ryzen 7 7700X, and is only slightly slower than the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, saving you a little money. It can even compete with the newer Ryzen 7 9700X, in games. However, for productivity, it can't quite cut it compared to its more expensive brothers in the 8-core/16-thread AM5 CPU realm.
