4K Ray Tracing Performance
We will now look at performance at 4K 3840×2160 with Ray Tracing option in games turned On. We are specifically testing performance with Ray Tracing turned on on each video card. In-Game benchmarks are used where possible when not a manual run-through is used.
Note that DLSS is not turned on, DLSS is not being shown or tested. NVIDIA DLSS will add to the performance and improve performance. With DLSS turned on performance is a lot faster and beats the Radeon RX 6800 XT and RX 6800 in every game with Ray Tracing with GeForce RTX 30 Series video cards.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
As we stated on the previous page we haven’t had a chance yet to dive into this game in a thorough way, but we wanted to squeeze in Ray Tracing performance comparisons. At 4K we are running the game at the highest in-game settings plus “Ultra” Ray Tracing options. The GeForce RTX 3080 FE is 37% faster than the Radeon RX 6800 XT here, which is pretty large. In terms of what is playable though, even the Radeon RX 6800 is playable here at 4K with Ray Tracing by providing over 60 FPS average.
Dirt 5
In Dirt 5 at 4K the Radeon RX 6800 XT and Radeon RX 6800 are on top. In terms of what is playable though only the Radeon RX 6800 XT is playable with Ray Tracing at 4K. Once again, this game is an outlier compared to the rest. Results may differ after the game patch and driver optimizations.
Watch Dogs: Legion
In Watch Dogs Legion with Ray Tracing at 4K the GeForce RTX 3080 FE and Radeon RX 6800 XT perform about the same. The Radeon RX 6800 is faster than the RTX 2080 Ti FE. In terms of what is playable though, nothing, not one card on here is playable with Ray Tracing at 4K. Unless we enable DLSS on the RTX 3080 FE, that is playable.
Control
In Control the GeForce RTX 3080 FE dominates Ray Tracing performance over the Radeon RX 6800 XT by 56%. The Radeon RX 6800 is down near the RTX 2080 / SUPER FE. In terms of playability, no card is playable in this game at 4K and Ray Tracing without DLSS.
Metro Exodus
In Metro Exodus the GeForce RTX 3080 FE with Ray Tracing is faster than the Radeon RX 6800 XT by 30%. The Radeon RX 6800 is above RTX 2080 SUPER FE performance. In terms of what is playable though, again no video card is with Ray Tracing at 4K without DLSS.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
In Shadow of the Tomb Raider the GeForce RTX 3080 FE is 24% faster than the Radeon RX 6800 XT at 4K with Ray Tracing. The Radeon RX 6800 is faster than the GeForce RTX 3070 FE though with Ray Tracing at 4K. However, no video card is playable with Ray Tracing at 4K though, unless we enable DLSS.
