Gameplay Performance at 4K
In this section, we are going to dial the resolution up a notch to 4K. All other settings will remain the same as they were in 1440p.
Returnal
Right out of the blocks, the RX 7900 XT picks up where it left off. The margin is 14% and 29% upscaled. Both cards are nicely playable without upscaling. Overclocking the MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPRIM X gains 4%.
Forspoken
Both cards just make it into playable framerates. Upscaling is necessary, no doubt. The RX 7900 XT is better by 10% and 6%. You get 3% faster with overclocking, but essentially nothing added to upscaling.
Callisto Protocol
The RX 7900 XT comes out ahead again, here by 4%. Once again, upscaling gives a hefty boost of over 33%. If you overclock the MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPRIM X you’ll get the win here by just over 5%.
Chernobyl Enhanced Edition
The MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPRIM X is the faster card by just over 2%, all the FPS here are very fast, however. Upscaling boosts the margin of victory to 10%. Once again, overclocking gains about 3%.
Dying Light 2
The RX 7900 XT is 14% faster, either way. Both cards again are fast at 4K! Upscaling simply adds better. The overclock adds 4% in this game.
Cyberpunk 2077
No matter how hard you try, Cyberpunk will beat you. Neither card is playable, the toughest game of the 6 we use currently. The RX 7900 XT does get close and still is faster by 16% and 20% upscaled. The MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPRIM X can’t make the grade even with upscaling, close but not close enough.
