Introduction
In January 2024, NVIDIA launched three new video cards into the RTX 4000 series. You may review the details in our CES article here. Today we have the opportunity to test out the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER WINDFORCE OC 16GB. (GV-N407TSWF3OC-16GO) We have a very detailed launch article here that spells out the differences between the RTX 4070 Ti and the new RTX 4070 Ti SUPER.
GIGABYTE is a well-known PC component manufacturer. They are known for offering a wide variety of motherboards and video cards. Their selections seem to fit nearly any need and budget. GIGABYTE has 6 different models of the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER to choose from. These range from the top-shelf AORUS Master to the least appointed, the WINDFORCE OC. The AORUS Master and Gaming OC have RGB and the highest overclocks, the AERO and Eagle OC ICE are white and the Eagle OC and WINDFORCE OC are rather subdued and more compact.
All 6 models have some sort of factory overclock. The model we have for review today, the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER WINDFORCE OC 16GB has the lowest factory overclock (2625MHz vs default 2610MHz) no RGB, and a more compact size. This video card is about 20% smaller than the AORUS Master and 13% shorter than the Gaming OC model. Still, it is outfitted with a full-cover copper heatsink, triple fan cooling, a full-slotted metal backplate, and an Ultra Durable PCB design.
The RTX 4070 Ti SUPER line was launched as an exclusive partner release. This means that there is no Founder’s Edition and all cards are custom designed, from “MSRP” models up to deluxe appointed models. The factory overclock and appointments will of course be accompanied by some price premiums. We received a full retail package from GIGABYTE. Our GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER WINDFORCE OC 16GB is listed online at the MSRP of $799, but check out the pricing widget below for the latest prices. The warranty information was not available at the time of writing, we have contacted GIGABYTE for more information.
The GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER WINDFORCE OC 16GB
Our review card is the least-appointed model offered in the GIGABYTE RTX 4070 TI SUPER line. That being said, it does come with a factory overclock of 2625MHz or 15MHz over the default “stock” specifications. It includes 16GB of VRAM, a 4GB increase over the plain 4070 Ti.
The video card arrived to us well packaged, and cushioned in the standard-formed foam. The box contained the card and a two-headed 12VHPWR adapter as this video card is powered by the new 16-pin connector. The top shroud is a subtle gray plastic. There are three 80mm Windforce fans. The middle fan rotates opposite the outer fans in this model.
As we stated, the heatsink is a full-cover copper block with composite heatpipes. The PCB is GIGABYTE’S Ultradurable brand. The back of the card is covered by a rear-slotted full-cover metal backplate. Looking at the backplate, it is nicely curved away from the power connector slot, giving extra space to maneuver the plug. Always welcome. We can also see the placement is now at the rear of the PCB rather than the middle.
As we said above, this is a comparatively compact video card. It measures 10 ¼ X 4 ¼ x 1 ¾ inches. The card weighs in at 2 pounds and 4 ounces. This 2.5-slot video card has 3 x Display port 1.4a and 1 HDMI 2.1a outputs. It has a power rating of 285 Watts and a 750 Watt PSU is recommended. Pretty much anything you need in the way of software is managed through the GIGABYTE Control Center, which you may download from their support page.
