Gears 5
We are using the game Gears 5 in our review. We are using the built-in benchmark in the game for the performance below. However, we have also verified performance in real gameplay and verified the highest playable settings. Feel free to test using the built-in benchmark and compare your results to ours.
We are going to show you default “Ultra” preset performance. The game runs in DX12 on all cards, and to match the viewport at the right resolution we set the desktop to 1080p, 1440p and 4K so the game runs everything at the right resolution we are testing since there is no exclusive fullscreen option. We also have the Ultra HD Texture Pack installed.
Apples-to-Apples
In the graph, we have the game at the “Ultra” graphics preset. This game performs well at 1080p at “Ultra” on this video card. We average in the upper 60’s by default and overclocked performance increases 10%. This is playable and the game feels good. However, it does drop off fast-moving up to 1440p and maintaining “Ultra” quality.
Highest Playable Settings
The game is playable at 1080p with “Ultra” settings. To make 1440p playable you will need to drop to “Medium” graphic settings, then the framerate averages around 71FPS.
