Gaming Performance Continued 1

Far Cry 5

We wanted to throw an older game into the mix as well, Far Cry 5 has been out a little while but is still fun.  We used the “Low Preset” and did not have the high-resolution textures installed.  We ran the built-in benchmark, and this game runs in DX11.

At 720p it averages 29 FPS and is right on the border of being playable.  You’ll mostly have an ok experience, but it can drop into unplayable territory at times.  At 900p it drops to 18 FPS and 1080p is 13 FPS.

Gears 5

Gears 5 is a DX12 game and also another title that is well optimized.  We used the “Low” preset and ran the built-in benchmark.

This game, like The Division 2 actually performs generally ok at 720p, giving us 37.7 FPS.  This is playable and works fine.  At 900p it drops to 29 FPS and at 1080p it is 22 FPS.  We still don’t want to turn up the quality level though, for this game the higher fps at 720p is welcome rather than turning up quality to medium.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

In Shadow of the Tomb Raider we are using the low preset and the built-in benchmark and running in DX12.

At 720p this game is also playable at 33 FPS.  It drops to 26 FPS at 900p and 22 FPS at 1080p.

Hitman 2

Hitman 2 is a DX12 game and we ran the Miami benchmark run.  We did run this game at the lowest possible settings.

At 720p it averages 29 FPS and is on the border of being playable.  It can get a little choppy or laggy in some instances, but because of the slower nature of this game, this level of performance is actually playable.  At 900p it drops to 22 FPS and at 1080p it drops to 16 FPS.
