Default GPU Frequency

Before we dive into overclocking, we always test what the default GPU frequency is while gaming.  This way we can see where we are starting from and make sure the GPU is performing as it should be by default.

On this video card, the boost clock is set at 1830MHz.

GPU Frequency

Default GPU Frequency Graph

As you can see, this video card is boosting well over the quoted 1830MHz frequency the card is set at.  It starts out at 1950MHz, but drops to 1920MHz and runs consistently at that frequency while gaming.  At 1920MHz it is 90MHz above the quoted boost clock, and 135MHz above a stock GTX 1660 SUPER frequency.  That’s a nice factory overclock out of this video card without even doing anything.  Therefore, 1920MHz will be our starting place for overclocking.

GPUz

Above are the GPUz screenshots at default.  You will note the GPU temperature is 67c and that is with the fans on automatic at only 38%.  Power Consumption is at 132W.  GPU Voltage is at 1.0500V.
