Red Dead Redemption 2

In Red Dead Redemption 2 we started our testing at the highest possible in-game settings at 1080p.  We turned the game up to all “Ultra” settings at 1080p to see how playable the video cards are.  Unfortunately, for every video card here these settings are not playable at 1080p.  It seems we will have to lower in-game settings to make it playable.

At any rate, it is clear that the MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X is faster than the 8GB factory overclocked SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 5500 XT.  It’s 16% faster.  When we overclock the MSI GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X performance increases by 8%. However, ultimately the XFX Radeon RX 5600 XT THICC II Pro factory overclocked video card is faster than the MSI GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X default and overclocked.  It is 17% faster than the MSI GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X at default, and 8% faster than the card when it is overclocked.  But again, none of the video cards are playable at “Ultra” in this game.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Since the game wasn’t playable at “Ultra” we bumped it down to all “High” settings.  This made the difference.  Now all the video cards, except the SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB are playable at “High” settings.  The RX 5500 XT 8GB is just a bit too slow even at “High” in this game.

The MSI GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X is 17% faster than the 8GB factory overclocked SAPPHIRE PULSE RX 5500 XT, which makes a big difference.  Overclocking the video card improves performance by 8%.  The XFX factory-overclocked RX 5600 XT THICC II Pro is faster, it’s 16% faster than the default performance of MSI GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X and 7% faster than the video card overclocked.
