Power and Temp
System power is measured at the wall in Watts and represents the total system load. Our power supply is a Seasonic Prime 1000W Titanium. Temperature is measured via GPUz and room temperature of the testing rig was at 71F while testing.
No surprise, the lowest Wattage was experienced on the SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB OC at 254W total system power. Next up was the MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X at 271W, which considering how much faster it is than the SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB OC makes sense.
However, the most power-efficient video card is clearly the XFX Radeon RX 5600 XT THICC II pro since it is much faster than the MSI GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X, it only eats up 6 more Watts.
Overclocking the MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X increases power demand by only 4%. This is good because the performance increase out of this 4% extra power is 8% performance increase.
The MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X runs the coolest however at 67c. It runs cooler than the XFX Radeon RX 5600 XT THICC II Pro and the SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB OC. This shows how robust and good the cooling is on the MSI video card. It also runs silently; you cannot hear the fans while gaming.
Though we turned the fan speed up for overclocking, you don’t really need to in order to hit this overclock.
